Announcing Absurd to Sublime.Net

b78482697z120090406134700000g0rhaeqr1_lg

Here’s the dilemma:  Wordpress.com won’t let bloggers monetize, and Blogspot, owned by Google, won’t communicate.

As the old saying goes...you get what you pay for. Absurdtosublime.blogspot.com was removed by Google on April 14, at 2:00pm. At the time, I had 230000 hits, and over 200 posts. No spam or viruses were found on the site.

I never received an explanation from Google.  Did someone in Orange County  known for tampering around with blogs, newspapers and message boards have a hand in this? Perhaps.

Anyway, I launched REALLY ABSURD as a temporary blog while I considered my options.  My option: Purchasing my own domain.

ABSURDTOSUBLIME has been a difficult and time consuming venture. One thing about blogspot, they do make it easy!  I have had many false starts, and I’m still having glitches and problems.  But it’s up and running.

Timely and interesting posts about The Real Housewives Franchise and all the wacky characters can be found at the new blog.  Wordpress.com linkers, some of the old blogspot links are irretrievable, many are posted at Boxxet and Zimbio. Blogspot: Many will link back to really absurd, at least the older posts will.. The Gretchen Rossi/Jay Photoglou/ Slade Smiley  story is still at MORE ABSURDITIES

Thank You for making this move with me.

Lisa Wu Hartwell on“Double Standards”

excerpt from essence.com

Before you think about calling Lisa Wu Hartwell a ghetto drama queen, check Webster for the definition of ghetto. Despite behaving like the consummate professional throughout  the debut season of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta," Hartwell was quickly labeled ghetto once she confronted cast mate Kim Zolciak's slanderous remarks about her and her kids. Yet the "Housewives" franchise welcomes ratings-induced drama including an upcoming episode of the New Jersey edition which shows one of the the wives wilding out in a restaurant. ESSENCE.com asked Hartwell to weigh in on whether or not she thinks Black women are judged more harshly than their White counterparts and why.

ESSENCE.: The ATL "Housewives" show will be returning for a second season and is the highest rated of the "Housewives" franchise. It seems that the other shows are following the Georgia Peach lead for great ratings.
HARTWELL:
Absolutely, they do. There's always a double standard. Perhaps, we are held to a higher standard of excellence but real situations happen. It's just unfair that people pass judgment and call our show ghetto but when they talk about the women Orange County or New York or New Jersey shows they call it entertainment. I believe that the way that we've been raised as Black people—always keeping secrets in our family and really witnessing Black women go through it—that we are judged harshly. For instance, there's a teaser for the New Jersey show where one of the women flips over a table in the restaurant. Now had any of us done that we probably would have lost some viewers and been told that we lack class. Unfortunately, certain behaviors are more accepted from our counterparts than they are among us. So tell me is their show ghetto or simply entertainment? People need to understand that ghetto isn't a color, it's a state of mind and being.
ESSENCE.COM: So what would you say to ATL "Housewives" critics?
HARTWELL:
People have always said that we don't represent the women of Atlanta. It is impossible for five women to represent all the women of Atlanta but some might be able to relate to someone on our show. I've had some people say to me after seeing the argument I had with Kim, "I thought you were different." And I simply had to say that I'm human. Maybe some situations we handled were inappropriate behavior, but it's always easy to criticize and say what you would do when you're not in the situation. I'm sorry that they find our behavior offensive but oftentimes we don't really have a chance to think about our actions, or what we say. Are there certain things that in hindsight I wish I could take back? Absolutely. At the end of the day we are all human, but cut us some slack as you do our counterparts. It's all entertainment. Remember, you're only seeing a fraction of our lives, not the whole pie.

Lisa apparently doesn’t read blogs and message boards, lol.

She By Sheree Fashion Show

from people mag

"Seven Figure" Sheree Whitfield finally shows a fashion line.

May 13, 2009

A fashion show with fashions might sound fairly standard, but fans of the Atlanta Housewives know that such a feat proved to be a major challenge for Sheree Whitfield on the show’s first season.

The divorced diva successfully pulled off a do-over without major incident Tuesday night at Atlanta’s W Hotel. “I am on cloud nine! I am very, very pleased,” Whitfield said after receiving a standing ovation as she pranced down the runway in a form-fitting black satin cocktail dress and fuchsia pumps.

Debuting her long-anticipated She By Shereé fall clothing collection with fellow costars Kim Zolciak, Lisa Wu Hartwell, NeNe Leakes, and new girl Kandi Burruss(a singer-songwriter from platinum-selling ’90s R&B; girl group Xscape) looking on from the front row gave Whitfield the chance to redeem herself — and for PEOPLE to catch up with Atlanta’s ladies.

“It’s all about sexiness and celebrating a woman’s curves,” Whitfield said of her collection of form-fitting dresses and casual wear festooned with rhinestones and fur. “When a woman puts on my clothes I want her to feel sexy and classy.”

Even rival Leakes admitted that it was a change from Whitfield’s infamous clothes-free “fashion viewing” featured in the show’s first season. “I liked that she had a jumpsuit in the collection. That is very in, very happening. She had a lot of variety: dresses, furs, gowns and even a jogging suit,” Leakes told PEOPLE. “It went from nothing coming down the runway to something.”

Cast members are remaining tight-lipped about what to expect from a new season, only promising to deliver plenty of drama. Kim Zolciak hinted that her singing career is still on track (even if her friendship with Leakes is not. “It is what it is,” she said of their relationship). “I am so happy with my music career,” Zolciak said, “I’m really excited about it. Everyone’s going to die when they see what happens.”

What about the cigarette smoking? “I still smoke all day,” she said.

The overly active Hartwell expressed happiness for Whitfield, telling PEOPLE, “I love to see anyone out there pursuing their dream.” And she remains as busy as every, pursuing dreams of her own with a fashion line in the works as well as a book about domestic violence. “Expect more drama for sure,” she says of Atlanta’s season 2, “but lots of entertaining moments. We share a lot of personal stories that will touch people.”

Added NeNe’s “gay boyfriend” Dwight Eubanks: “It is so over the top that we’re going to be the number one reality show on TV!”

Lisa Wu Hartwell:”Closet Freak”

lisa-hartwell

Lisa Wu Hartwell, the pint-sized hustler from The Real Housewives of Atlanta just dropped a clothing line called Closet Freak, inspired by the nickname given to her by her fellow ‘Housewives’ co-stars for being undercover with her wild ways. Looks like she’s maximizing the hell out of her 15 minutes.

ESSENCE.COM: Last night was the unveiling of your new collection, Closet Freaks. So exactly how risqué are these garments?

HARTWELL: (Laughs.) It’s not what you might think. It’s more than just a clothing line, it’s a movement. I don’t claim to be a fashion designer, but I am about women’s empowerment. When women wear Closet Freaks apparel they know that they are empowered and confident. You don’t have to dress provocative to be sexy. You can still be a lady and leave some things for the imagination and the bedroom.

ESSENCE.COM: We hear that. So what inspired the name?

HARTWELL: (Laughs.) Last season on the show there was an episode where someone was teaching us how to pole dance, and we were sitting around and the instructor said we had to come up with a “stripper” name. I couldn’t think of one for the life of me, but when they put on the music and I started dancing (remember, I used to be a hip-hop dancer for Public Enemy and E.P.M.D. back in the day) they all started calling me a Closet Freak and I’m like, Hmmm, I can brand that name and turn it into something positive, so I did. I plan to include thongs and other items as well.

Here’s hoping she has better luck with the clothing line than Sheree Whitfield

Real Housewives: D-list Drama

Real Drama with the Real Housewives

photo_caption

from OK magazine:

On Friday, the catty women from all three of Bravo's Real Housewives show descended on the Fred Segal store in Santa Monica. But this was no peace conference.
The ten well-heeled gals, representing NYC, Atlanta and Orange County, were on-hand to film a segment for the Bravo A-List Awards. Former boy-bander Lance Bass played master of ceremonies, announcing to the women that they were each being given $4,000 to shop for the perfect outfit for event, which is taped tomorrow night, April 5, and airs on April 15

Even though three of the NYC Housewives — Jill Zarin, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Alex McCord — were AWOL from the shopping spree, that didn't stop the remaining Big Apple babes from bringing their drama to the West Coast.
Archenemies Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Killoren Bensimon made no attempt to play nice. In fact, one witness tells OK! they "acted as if the other didn't even exist. They didn't look at each other — or even acknowledge each other — even once." However, notes the source, Bethenney appeared to be more bothered about the situation than Kelly.
It was left to the only remaining NYC castmate, Ramona Singer, to bridge the gap between the two. "Bethenny and Kelly don't really like each other; just like how I don't like Simon," Ramona explains to OK! "Not everyone is going to like each other. We are not always going to get along."
As for MIA Housewife LuAnn, who is going through a divorce
with her husband, Ramona is typically candid.
"LuAnn is laying low right now," she explains to OK!. "We are in the public eye, but there are some things we want to keep personal. This was not something that she wanted out in the press. She's got children, but [LuAnn's husband] obviously had a bone to pick with her."

Adding a bit of class to the affair was a surprise appearance by romance novel hunk (and butter substitute spokesman) Fabio, who popped in to share his unique points of view with the Housewives. Gretchen Rossi from the O.C. did little to hide that she was smitten with the walking slab of beefcake. "Do you think Orange County girls are trashy?" she asked Fabio as she tried on different dresses.
Speaking of Gretchen, she talked to OK! to catch us up on her life since the unfortunate passing of her fiancé Jeff Beitzel from Leukemia. "It has been quite a year," she admits. And though she's currently dating Slade Smiley (who was once engaged to another OC Housewife, Jo De La Rosa), Gretchen continues to wear the engagement ring that Jeff gave her. "I'm not going to take it off. This is a memory of him that I will have for myself."
As far as her relationship with Slade, Gretchen coyly tells OK!, "we'll see where that goes."

Dwight Eubanks Throws a Party

6th Housewife  Throws a Party

According to a source exclusive to absurdtosublime,  Nene and Gregg quietly divorced during the off-season.  This is not verified.  Season 2 is currently filming.

Watch What Happens

AND SPEAKING OF SHEREE……………

from MediaTakeOut…..

“March 17, 2009. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind of an EXPLOSIVE piece of news. We spoke to a person close to the filming of the Bravo show the Real Housewives Of Atlanta and they claims that a FIST FIGHT broke out on the set.
Well – it wasn’t actually a fist fight. Sheree Whitfield just GOT PUNCHED!!!
According to MediaTakeOut.com’s snitch, Sheree was upset that an Atlanta promoter named Tony Shorter was publicizing an event using her name – which she claimed, she never authorized. The confrontation started off civil then –all of a sudden - things went left. The insider explains, “[Tony] called Sheree a broke b*tch and Sheree [retaliated by] calling him a [DERROGATORY WORD FOR A GAY PERSON].”
And that’s where the details get a little fuzzy. According to our snitch, a split second after Sheree said those fateful words – a fist came out of nowhere and allegedly punched Sheree in her arm – HARD! The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, “I can’t say who did what to whom, but Sheree was hurt … I think she’s going to try and sue someone and get some money.”
Dang Sheree … you shouldn’t be calling anyone out there name … But we ain’t down with no one beatin’ on you…”

Lisa Wu Hartwell sues Keith Sweat for full custody of her kids

By Rodney Ho | Monday, February 23, 2009, 11:38 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Real Housewives of Atlanta housewife Lisa Wu Hartwell last Thursday filed for primary custody of her two sons with ex-husband and R&B singer Keith Sweat.

“The best interest of the minor children will be served by modifying the current custody and visitation provisions to make Mother the primary physical condition of the minor children,” according to the court papers filed with the Superior Court of Fulton County. “Since the time of the Divorce Decree, Mother has remarried, owns a successful business and will provide a stable, loving, and nurturing environment in which she can raise the minor children.”

She is seeking “primary physical custody and joint legal custody with final decision-making on all issues regarding the minor children.” She will “reasonably engage Father in good faith discussions before any final decisions are made concerning the children’s welfare.” The two children are Jordan Sweat, age 14 and Justin Sweat, age 11.

If she does get custody, she requests child support as well.

In 2003, Sweat received primary custody of the children. According to the final divorce decree at the time written by Fulton Superior Court judge Cynthia D. Wright, Sweat and Wu Hartwell married in 1992 and had the judge termed at the time an “extremely tumultuous relationship.” Wright wrote that “there is evidence that Father has been violent towards Mother, but no evidence he has ever been violent with any of his children.”

The judge felt the children at the time “lacked structure in their lives, due in substantial part to Mother’s numerous business ventures and frequent trips out of town… Mother has a history of spending money on herself excessively rather than providing for the children… There was some evidence at trial that Mother implicitly participated in robbing Father in the presence of the children. She also took money from Father prior to the initiation of this matter. This behavior causes the Court to question Mother’s maturity and judgment.”

Although Sweat, too, travels frequently, the decree said Sweat’s mom helped care for the children. “Father is capable of providing a stable, secure home environment for the boys where their care is not delegated to random third parties,” the judge wrote.

Wu Hartwell has had visitation rights and has said in past interviews she sees her sons frequently. Neither boy was shown on camera or even talked about on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” because Sweat would not give her legal permission to do so. Sweat is never mentioned by name on the show.

Wu Hartwell is currently married to former NFL player Ed Hartwell. They have a child, who we saw on the TV show, which begins taping its second season today.

Carlos Scott, her publicist, said Wu Hartwell cannot speak on the subject while it’s in the court system. Wu Hartwell said nothing about the custody case Saturday at her South DeKalb Mall appearance though she did note that her ex-husband didn’t clear her sons to be on the show.

We are currently seeking comment from Sweat, who happens to be promoting his new Peachtree TV special airing this week reuniting the group Dru Hill. Sweat made no mention of the custody case this morning in an interview with Frank & Wanda on V-103.

The complaint does not state how the children are doing currently or provide any overt evidence of problems while the boys are under Sweat’s custody.

Sheree? Sheree? Anyone?

425_real_housewives_atl_062608

Now, don’t get us wrong. Sheree Whitfield may be in New York.  She may be doing a “viewing” (what does that word make  you think of)  But she is not on the schedule for New York Fashion Week!

Could this be an oversight on Fern Mallis’ part?  Surely the fabulous Sheree wouldn’t lie!

What do you call Fashion Week with no fashion?  As Dwight Eubanks, the sixth housewife would say “Nothing”.

Real Housewives of Atlanta

The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Equal Opportunity Snark

The next series in Bravo TV's "Real Housewives" franchise is about to hit the airwaves.  The The Real Housewives of Atlanta  will debut this fall.

These nouveau riche women represent the old adage of "money don't change you".  They are still in the 'hood, the hood just costs $3.5 mil.  As the wives and about to be ex-wives of NBA and NFL players, they make the The Real Housewives of Orange County  look like food stamp recipients.

The Real Housewives of New York aren't really new money.

Without going into what happens to most  ex-jocks  when the sun sets on the career, these women better be prepared for the viciousness of the snarkThe Lauri/Gina /George warfare will look tame in comparison.

Watch What Happens.
